The Evidence-Based Policing Matrix
Back

The Evidence-Based Policing Matrix is a research tool that visually organizes moderate to rigorous evaluations of police interventions to allow law enforcement practitioners and researchers to see the totality of the research in a given area.

Each section of the Matrix represents a different target or scope of police interventions. These sections can be enlarged to see the specific studies included in that section of the matrix. Once the section is enlarged, short summaries for each of the studies are available by clicking on the authors of the studies.

In an effort to provide helpful suggestions in areas that have not yet been fully studied or evaluated, we have included ideas for responses and activities that may not yet be considered evidence-based or evidence-informed. Therefore, not all actions and strategies included within this App are evidence-based or evidence-informed.
